  • TELEVISION SOUNDTRACKS "How utterly American a phenomenon is Orson Welles?" -Charles Higham, a Welles biographer Special: Orson Welles receives the American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award. In 1941, Welles produced directed, co-authored and starred in "Citizen Kane" a feat that won the precocious 26-year-old the title of Hollywood's enfant terrible. Some 40 films later, Welles remains a dominant figure in the industry. Highlighting the program are clips from some of Welles' best films, including: Citizen Kane; "The Magnificent Ambersons" (1942) "Othello" (1955) and "Fantal Chimes at Midnight" (1967) and from "The Other Side of the Wind," which is still in production. At press time, celebrities scheduled to honor Welles included: host Frank Sinatra, Charlton Heston, Ingrid Bergman, Esty Bergen (with Charlie McCarthy), Joseph Cotten, Janet Leigh and Dennis Weaver.
