Based on Allan Gurganus's 1989 bestseller, this two-part 1994 TV-movie unfolds via the recollections of Lucy Marsden (Anne Bancroft), who at age 99 is the "oldest living Confederate widow." Residing in a North Carolina senior citizens' facility, the widow drifts into reveries, and her reflections on her younger years are seen in flashbacks, which feature Diane Lane as Lucy.
