D. W. Griffith's superlative epic of the Civil W:
is considered by many historians to be the most
important film ever made. In this masterpiece, h
not only summarized all that was known about
filmmaking, but introduced dramatic and cinema
techniques that have become the standards of
modern filmmakers.
This Collector's Edition of The Birth of a Nation was mad
from a 1933 print produced under the personal supervisi
of D. W. Griffith. It includes the original musical score fo
the movie which was adapted by Griffith to the 24
frames-per-second running speed needed for sound.
Musical direction is by Louis F. Gottschalk with sound
supervision by Campbell MacCulloch.
