  • REEL TV 48. NOSTALGIA & SPECIALS (TV Soundtracks) Singing and dancing snow-stoppers. "That's Entertainment!" (1974) salutes MGM musicals with clips from some 70 movies—from "Hollywood Revue" (1929) to the Oscar-winning "Gigi" (1958). The numbers are tied to a theme or a star, and three stars—Fred Astaire, Judy Garland and Gene Kelly—are standouts. Astaire is seen in his only screen duets with Kelly (doing Gershwin's "The Babbit and the Bromide") and Eleanor Powell ("Begin the Beguine"); Garland's segment includes renditions of "Dear Mr. Gable (You Made Me Love You)," "Over the Rainbow," "Get Happy" and "Under the Bamboo Tree" (pictured); Kelly performs in what many regard as Hollywood's two finest musicals: "An American in Paris" and "Singin' in the Rain." There are also clips of Garland-Mickey Rooney "Let's-put-on-a-show" musicals; Esther Williams' splashy vehicles of the '40s; unlikely song-and-dance men like Clark Gable and James Stewart; and a gallery of other stars, including Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor. (3 hrs.) (1974) aired 1974
