A 10-PART SERIES BEGINS Dick Clark's: Debut: Some of rock's most accomplished performers and songwriters—from Bo Diddley to Run-DMC—wax nostalgic over 40 years of music history. The 10-hour series opens with "Renegades," a look at the origins of rock in the '50s, when artists such as Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley transformed rhythm and blues into something new. "We wanted to boogie," says Little Richard, in one of the scores of new interviews with some of the biggest stars of the genre. Among the highlights in upcoming episodes: Brian Wilson recalls the early days of the Beach Boys (Part 2); producer George Martin discusses working with the Beatles (Part 3); Ray Charles explains how gospel fueled the Motown sound (Part 4); Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and Jimmy Page sing the praises of the blues (Part 5); Jerry Garcia talks about the "summer of love" and Altamont (Part 6); David Bowie describes his "glam" period (Part 7); James Brown (Part 8) and the Sex Pistols (Part 9) perform in scintillating concert footage; and producer Rick Rubin raps about the Beastie Boys ("they were obnoxious from the moment I met them") (Part 10).
