'In the Line of Fire': It's agent vs. assassin Turn off the phone, bust out the popcorn, settle back—Saturday-night rentals don't get much better than this. It's a fast-paced thriller with suspense, humor, a little romance, and classy performances from Clint Eastwood, John Malkovich, Rene Russo, and company. Eastwood is aging Secret Service agent Frank Horrigan, "a borderline burnout with questionable social skills." Malkovich is a cunningly intelligent assassin who's out to kill not only the President but Horrigan as well, and who knows how to play on the agent's recurring nightmare: his failure to protect JFK in 1963.
