The series doesn't dare say it's based on true stories; it is "inspired by actual documented accounts" of crimes that have no solution...at least not on this Earth or of this dimension. The stories are incredible—that is, truly unbelievable, and that's my problem with The X-Files. Otherwise, it's an entertaining crime drama with David Duchovny as an FBI agent who has a paranormal paranoid streak and Gillian Anderson as his doubting partner. My score: 8
