SPY GAME (Mon., ABC) Ever won-
der what happened to the spies when
the Cold War ended? They went into
comedy. This series, from the produc-
ers of Hercules and Xena, stars Linden
Ashby and Allison Smith as a couple of
cute ex-espionage agents charged with
keeping the world safe from their
cranky, downsized counterparts.
Game's a spoof, reminiscent of The
Man from U.N.C.L.E. This is low-
maintenance entertainment, rife with
campy jokes and cleverly
choreographed battles.

An espionage thriller propelled by vigorous action
scenes and engrossing plot twists.
Peter Strauss portrays Saul Grisman, a hard-
boiled CIA agent whose code name is Romulus.
David Morse is Chris Klimoonis, a secretive CIA
operative whose code name is Remus. Both men
were recruited as boys from an orphanage by
John Eliot (Robert Mitchum), a powerful CIA of-
ficer who became their surrogate father and sole
director of their deadly missions over the years.
The aftermath of one of those missions con-
vinces Romulus that Eliot has gotten out of con-
trol. He's right, and he's in big trouble. Eliot has
ordered that he be killed. The ensuing cat-and-
mouse game plunges both Romulus and Remus
into a maelstrom of international intrigue that
spins off an ultrasecret plot for world domination.
Directed by Emmy winner Marvin J. Chomsky
("Holocaust"), this two-part 1989 TV-movie was
filmed in New Zealand. Oy Watson ("Billionaire
Boys Club") based his script on the book by Da-
