MOBIL MASTERPIECE THEATRE PRESENTS
SLEEPERS
A four-part spy saga about two long forgotten
KGB agents in England who have no intention of
coming in from the cold.
In fact, their 25 years as "sleeper" agents—
during which time they had no contact with the
Kremlin—have been quite comfortable. Albert
Robinson (Warren Clarke) has a wife, three chil-
dren and a good job in a Lancashire brewery,
and tactician Jeremy Coward (Nigel Havers) is a
London investment banker with a couple of res-
idences and a string of girlfriends.
In Part 1, however, they're both distressed to
learn that the KGB may be trying to bring them
in. On their trail: non-monsense Maj. Nina Orshina
Lisanna Kanwai Muscov has lost two
agents; she tells her London contact. They are
rogue and out of control.
(Godfrey Sax directed from a script by John
Flanagan and Andrew McCullough (60 min.)

I SPY RETURNS. 2/3/94
Robert Culp and Bill Cosby (pictured) re-create their
roles as secret agents Kelly Robinson and Alexander
Scott from the seriocomic series (1965-68) that
won Cosby three Emmys.
As this 1994 TV-movie begins, Scott's out of the
spy game and into a nice, quiet career as a profes-
sor of Romance languages. Nice and quiet, that is,
until he discovers that his daughter Nicole (Salli
Richardson) has been recruited for espionage by
his old buddy Robinson and is off to Vienna on a
clandestine mission with another rookie. Robinson's
son Bennett (George Newbern).
To keep tabs on Nicole, Scott flies to Austria,
where he runs into Robinson, who's watching out
for his son. Soon all four are swept into a web of in-
trigue woven into a story, which, like the series,
blends tongue-in-cheek humor with cloak-and-dag-
ger action.

THE HIJACKING OF THE ACHILLE LAURO
Terror on the high seas.
This 1989 TV-movie re-creates with disturbing realism the
October 1985 Mediterranean hijacking of the Italian cruise
ship Achille Lauro by four Arabs tied to the Palestinian Libera-
tion Organization. Armed with automatic weapons and
grenades, the terrorists demanded the release of Palestinians
jailed in Israel in exchange for the freedom of their hos-
tages—some 400 crew members and passengers.
As the crisis unfolds over a harrowing two-day period,
the focus of the film shifts between desperate diplomatic sessions
in Cairo and the ordeal on board ship, suffered most tellingly
by two New Yorkers: tourist Marilyn Klinghoffer (played by
Lee Grant) and her husband Leon (Karl Malden), a stroke vic-
tim who uses a wheelchair.
