SPY
Bruce Greenwood stars in a 1989 made-for-tv-
be thrown about a spy who gets caught in a web
of intrigue when he tries to sever his CIA ties.
Disillusioned with the CIA's ruthlessness, Michael
agent Richard Berk (played initially by Michael
Thomas) decides to call it quits. It isn't easy--Berk
knows too much. "You're gonna have to com-
pletely disappear," a CIA colleague warns. So
Berk fakes his own death and undergoes plastic
surgery that lets him assume a new identity.
It's one year later, and Berk (now played by
Greenwood) is leading a quiet life as an artist
when he discovers that no ex-agent Angela
(Catherine Hicks) is being watched--the first in
a series of events that convinces Berk that the
CIA is on to him.

Powers Boothe brings to his role of an American
traitor the same chilling conviction that won him
an Emmy in the title role of the 1980 TV-movie
"Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones."
The two-part, fact-based 1990 TV-movie casts
Boothe as John A. Walker Jr., a Navy chief petty
officer with access to top-secret cryptographic
communications. A married man with four chil-
dren, Walker is a sarcastic, hard-drinking woman-
izer with the gift of gab and mounting debts that
lead him to sell intelligence to KGB agents in
1967. It's a successful gambit, and Walker en-
thusiastically continues his espionage activities
--which are eventually detected by his wife, Bar-
bara (Lissey Ann Warren).
Based on the books Family of Spies by Pete
Earley and I Pledge Allegiance by Howard
