LIGHTS! CAMERA! CONTRACTIONS!
Stephanie's hour of delivery is approaching, and Michael (Peter Scolari) is planning to videotape every precious moment as a gift for their yet-to-be-born firstborn.
As a prologue to the big event, Michael is asking everyone—including Patrick Duffy, Gerald McRaney and Angela Lansbury (seen in cameos)—to answer the question, "What kind of parents will Stephanie and I make?" To make sure there's no slip-up, he provides cue cards. However, his proposal to "capture the slapping of our stapling's posterior for posterity" is firmly nixed by Stephanie (Julia Duffy), who makes him promise not to bring the camera into the delivery room. It's a promise Michael keeps but he has a backup plan in mind.

An appreciation of TV comedy, produced under the auspices of the Museum of Television and Radio. Taped Oct. 11 in Los Angeles, the program screens clips of funny women at their best, spotlighted in sequences recalling:
The Ladies of 1000 Faces: Mary Tyler Moore introduces diverse characters created by Imogene Coca on Your Show of Shows (1950-54). Carol Burnett on her CBS variety series (1967-79) and Gilda Radner during her Saturday Night Live years (1975-80).
The Battle of the Sexes: Lily Tomlin remembers spats on I Love Lucy in the early 1950s, The Honeymooners in the mid-1950s, Family Ties (1982-89) and Roseanne.
Homemakers: Betty White ponders the role of mom on Father Knows Best (1954-63), The Donna Reed Show (1958-66) and The Simpsons.
Working Women: Tracey Ullman pays homage to The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970-77), That Girl (1966-71) and Murphy Brown.
Also: Carol Burnett salutes Lucille Ball; Candice Bergen offers a look behind the scenes at Murphy Brown; and Mario Thomas reflects on sitcom stars who have dealt with serious issues, including Jean Stapleton on All in the Family (1971-79), Beatrice Arthur on Maude (1972-78) and Diahann Carroll on Julia (1968-71).
