This tech-based 1990 TV-movie stars Marcie Wittingham as Kim Paris, who is highly intelligent, with a thick skin and a sensitive spirit. Employed by a private detective agency in Houston, Kim is assigned to gain the confidence of David Reed (Peter Gallagher), a brooding, secretive figure suspected of being involved in an unsolved double homicide. Adopting a cover personality, Kim sets out to coax the truth out of David, but winds up falling for him. Soon, their relationship devolves into a heated affair that, for Kim, blurs the distinction between pretense and reality. Bobby is nonetheless convicted by the questionable testimony of a 10-year-old eyewitness determined to right this wrong. Bobby's foster father (Martin Sheen) works new evidence to reopen the case.
