ROBIN COOK'S 'VIRUS' 5/8/95 In 1987, physician-author Robin Cook (Coma) wrote Outbreak, a bestseller about Americans stricken by Africa's mysterious Ebola virus. Cook gave Warner Bros. permission to use his title for their current theatrical release (which has a simi- lar plot), but this 1995 TV-movie is based on his original story. It revolves around a medical researcher (Nicollette Sheridan) from Atlanta whose search for the cause of the Ebola out- break leads to some shocking discoveries. Dr. Harbuck: William Devane. TERMINAL (1966) A medical melodrama that trades credibility for con- voluted twists, action and intrigue. The central char- acter of this 1996 TV-movie is a cancer researcher named Sean O'Grady (Doug Savant), who is hired by a Phoenix clinic. There, O'Grady rekindles a relationship with Janet Reardon (Nia Peeples), an old flame now employed as a nurse. PANDORA'S CLOCK (Sun. & Mon., NBC) 11/10/96 For all its hot buttons—epidemics, ter- & rorism, air crashes—this two-part TV- 11/11/96 movie is a nifty throwback to '70s disas- ter films. (I kept looking for Helen Hayes in tourist class.) Richard Dean Anderson pilots a 747; his passengers, many of whom star on NBC series, are exposed to a deadly virus. The dia- logue's even deadlier, but you'll watch Clock for thrills, not talk. My score: 8 W/Richard Dean Anderson, Jane Leeves, Tim Grimm, Robt.
