2093 . ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS
Four remakes of memorable tales from the TV series "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" (1955-62) and the "Alfred Hitchcock Hour" (1962-65) that have been updated, but with their strange twists intact. Also inter are the Master's wry introductions, which have been colored by computer. (2 hrs.)
□ "Incident in a Small Jail" (from 1961) casts Ned Beatty as a traveling salesman mistaken for a murderer by a lynch mob. Venner: Lee Ving. Sheriff: Tony Frank.
□ John Huston is "The Man from the South" (1960), who proposes a bizarre wager: to win a sports car, a down-and-out gambler (Steven Bauer) must light his cigarette lighter 10 times in a row—or lose a finger. Rosa: Kim Novak. Waitress: Tippi Hedren. Girl: Melanie Griffith (Hedren's daughter).
□ "Bang! You're Dead" (1961) builds suspense on the odyssey of a tomboy (Blanca Rose) who's wielding a loaded gun she thinks is a toy. Uncle Jack: Lyman Ward. Amanda's Mother: Gail Youngs. Amanda's Father: Kale Brown. Clerk: Billy Mumy (who played the lead as a boy in the original).
□ "An Unlocked Window" (1965) makes for a terrifying night in a large, remote house for a nurse (Annette O'Toole) tending to a dying man. Mrs. Kypranov: Helena Kallianiotos. Sam: Owen Bush. 5/5/85
