  • ROBIN COOK'S: VIRUS 5/8/95
In 1987, physician-author Robin Cook (Coma) wrote Outbreak, a bestseller about Americans stricken by Africa's mysterious Ebola virus. Cook gave Warner Bros. permission to use his title for their current theatrical release (which has a similar plot), but this 1995 TV-movie is based on his original story. It revolves around a medical researcher.(Nicollette Sheridan) from Atlanta whose search for the cause of the Ebola outbreak leads to some shocking discoveries. Dr. Harbuck: William Devane. • PANDORA'S CLOCK 11/10/96 & 11/11/96
For all its hot buttons—epidemics, terrorism, air crashes—this two-part TV-movie is a nifty throwback to '70s disaster films. (I kept looking for Helen Hayes in tourist class.) Richard Dean Anderson pilots a 747; his passengers, many of whom star on NBC series, are exposed to a deadly virus. The dialogue's even deadlier, but you'll watch Clock for thrills, not talk.
