A DREAM IS A WISH YOUR HEART
MAKES THE ANNETTE FUNICELLO STORY
A WORLD PREMIERE MOVIE

Annette Hasn't Got Time for the Pain
"That's my old hair!" exclaims Annette Funicello, when
she spots three actresses costumed as younger versions
of herself. Every time the ex-Mousketeer turns a corner
on the set of the CBS TV-movie "A Dream Is a Wish Your
Heart Makes" (Oct. 22), she sees another little piece of
her life. The film, based on Funicello's 1994 autobiog-
raphy, covers everything from "Beach Blanket Bingo" and
her Skippy peanut butter commercials, to how she hid
the fact that she has multiple sclerosis from even her
closest friends for years. As critical as her incurable,
degenerative disease is to her life's story,
Funicello insists, "I made sure this isn't a
sad movie. It will have a happy ending." It's
clear the same goes for her interviews when
she adds, "Somebody sent me a wonderful saying that I
use as a motto. It goes, 'Pain is a part of life. But misery
is an option.' Is that deep or what?" 10/22/95

THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB STORY:
40 YEARS LATER 10/22/95
"M-I-C... See you real soon ... K-E-Y ... Why?
Because we like you ... M-O-U-S-E!"
Sing it or say it, it's hard to believe that it was 40
years ago—Oct. 3, 1955, to be exact—that The
Mickey Mouse Club first scurried onto the TV
screen. This retrospective is highlighted by inter-
views with some of the original 24 Mouseketeers,
home movies shot by club host Jimmie Dodd dur-
ing the troupe's world tour, and a 1955 short that
contains the only color footage of the Mouseket-
eers performing. And here's some Mouseketeer
trivia: Roy Williams, senior member of the mouse
pack, was a one-time Disney animator—and
designer of the Mouseketeer hat. (1:00)
