  • 1930'S THE MUSIC, MEMORIES, AND MILESTONES
The 1930's: The Music, Memories and Milestones is an exciting look at the thirties using original footage and music of the time. Those were the days of the Edward and Mrs Simpson scandal that began with the death of George V and ended in abdication. Those were the record breaking days when Jesse Owens made history in the 1936 Olympics beneath the disapproving eye of Adolf Hitler. Those were the days of the Big Band and Woody Herman's 'At The Woodchopper's Ball' and also of Jimmy Durante and the people's darling, Judy Garland. All this against a backdrop of hope and rebellion that saw the rise of Fascism out of appalling worldwide depression. Look back at the 1930's and experience again the laughter, optimism, the hopes and the fears of that memorable decade!
  • 1940'S THE MUSIC, MEMORIES AND MILESTONES
The 1940's: The Music, Memories and Milestones is an exciting look at the forties using original footage and music of the time. Those were the fighting, bravely optimistic days of World War II that took up half the decade with its battles lost and won, its glory and its enormous tragedies. It was the time of Churchill, Hitler, Roosevelt and Stalin - strong personalities in four parts of the world. Those were the days of Vera Lynn's 'We'll Meet Again' and White Cliffs of Dover, and of Glenn Miller, George Formby and Marlene Dietrich making music that would never be forgotten. Those were days of rationing and unemployment after the war, but also of rebuilding and hope that saw the Royal Wedding of Princess Elizabeth and Philip Mountbatten. The pageantry, glamour and romance did much to revive a spirit of optimism in a people exhausted by war. Look back at the 1940's and feel again the emotions that ran through the decade: the fear, hope, laughter and tears that made it such a memorable time.
