- ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET JERRY SEINFELD
11/24/94
The comedian celebrates the legendary comedy duo (pictured). Bud Abbott (1895-1974) was "the greatest straight man in show-business history" and Lou Costello (1906-59) "was born to get laughs," says Seinfeld. That they both did, as this clips-packed retrospective attests. Bud and Lou honed their act in vaudeville in the mid-1930s, and by the time they launched their movie career (with 1940's "One Night in the Tropics"), their 200 routines "were polished to absolute perfection." The hour includes clips from their TV shows and concludes with their classic "Who's on First?" go-round. (1:00)
